Fallout 4 Place Anywhere Not Working
I've been finding that even on flattish ground my plots will often end up with a 'hovering' lightpole and mailbox. I've been resisting Place Everywhere (I know, I know, join the Dark Side, etc.) but it seems like most everything I've tried to use as filler doesn't want to go underneath. Farm plots are fantastic with the way they automatically dump in dirt, but the non-concrete, non-stilt home plots are problematic. Any tips?If the only tip is 'use Place Everywhere,' then what are people finding most pleasing as a filler solution once you're no longer worried about the Red? I was waiting for the Fallout code to be stable before using F4SE mods myself (which Creation Club has destroyed that idea) so I either don't use the plots without a base (concrete/stilt) or build up a platform to place the plots on. For non-Sim Settlements stuff I use console commands on the rare occasion I absolutely need to position something that would otherwise require Place Everywhere, but that might cause placement issues with SS plots unfortunately.
But you may need to do what I'll have to do next time I play, suck it up, deal with waiting on mod updates and use Place Everywhere.:D. 4 reasons why Place Everywhere is a Must-Have mod that has nothing to do with namesake title ability (e.g.
To place item anywhere)1. Allows ditching somewhat problematic or potential problem scrap mods (e.g. Scrap Everything, Spring Cleaning, etc) with incredibly useful extra object selection (default Insert key). No more issues with messing up pre-combine data.2. Store and Restore exact object location parameters - e.g.
So, I feel like I've exhaused relevant threads on this topic for ideas on what might be wrong here, so I'm posting this. I've installed Place Everywhere via Nexus Mod manager and it doesn't seem to be working. It's the latest version of both the mod and Place Everywhere, I have a place.ini file in my Plugins folder, I'm not running FOSE as an admin, I'm launching via FOSE, and other mods I.
Lets you 1 click press any new object into exact same location and resting angle as previous object stored.-I scrap the crumbling sanctuary buildings, and replace with pre-war brand new pre-fab sanctuary buildings. Hover mouse over old building foundation before scrap, press = key to store location data, scrap it, plop down the pre-fab building somewhere (1 or 2 story entire building including foundation premade by mod), hover over it and press 0 key to insta snap it into prior location.-For those that like to replace old objects with new objects in exact same place and angle without having to manually fuss over moving back and forth, this 2 click ability is a godsend3. Precise rotation ability - other than being able to place everywhere, how you can manipulate the movement of that placed object is imo just as good an ability by this mod.
Vanilla game, the models rotate X degrees every mouse 1 or 2 click. With PE, you can increase or decrease rotation angle with numpad +/- key. Makes it a ton easier to exactly align a new plot by reducing the rotation angle to lower increments.4. Scale up or scale down size of any object - very powerful ability, and can't live without it.
Even using SS almost entirely now, I still do plunk down vanilla objects, like water purifiers, rugs, etc.-What this ability does is numpad 1 or 3 key default, increase or decrease the model size. Want the large power generator to fit somewhere in a small location? Just shrink it down. Same for largest water purifier. For example - at Taffington Boathouse, instead of wrecking the scenery of what is supposed to be a waterside view by putting large water purifiers next to the dock, I just put mini versions of them inside the boat shed. In that small strip of water inside the boat shed, I can fit 5-6 large water purifiers by shrinking them down to 30% default size.I also never like how large the default wind mill is, so I usually shrink those down to 70% size.

I edited it here but can't edit the thread title.
Click to expand.Ah! That's the most important news for me. I already tote my wireless keyboard to the couch for console command purposes so I can see grabbing it when I need to, but having to continually turn off and then re-enable the controller would be aggravating.Does the controller still function for standard selection and movement of objects and then I can use the hotkeys for fine-tuning?I'll never understand why Bethesda decided to lock out most of the keyboard and mouse functions when you enable a controller. Conan Exiles allows both to co-exist and it's such a nice feature when building. Click to expand. So at some point using Scrap Everything I destroyed a portion of Sanctuary's road and didn't notice and had no idea how far back that went. Combine that with a lazy Saturday and it seemed like a fine time to deactivate SE and try out PE instead, since one of the quirks of deactivating SE is that anything you scrapped comes back.Problem, though: my Central Park plot was built on the former site of the ruined playground in Sanctuary with the rusted monkey bars, climbing dome, etc.
since they've returned they are mingling in unsightly fashion and turning on extra object selection doesn't seem to make them targetable. The INS hotkey is working because I'm getting the message that it's toggling on and I can select power armor and the workshop, but I can't select the playground stuff or a lot of the annoying bushes I had previously gotten rid of.What am I doing wrong? Or is PE not actually able to duplicate everything the scrap mods can do? Click to expand. As mentioned, while PE can delete via extra object selection mode many more things than default, and rivals SE - it doesn't grab everything SE does.
It's just a ballpark guess but if I had to swag - I'd say 85-90% of what most ppl would want to delete is fine. The remaining few, like the vanilla Sanctuary playground set, have to be done via console (if you have access to console). If you don't have access to console (markfordelete), I'd suggest moving the existing plot that has the bars clipping through and put an advanced industrial plot there. Unless it will just drive you crazy knowing inside the building there are monkey bar parts sticking around, you'll normally never see it.

I wouldn't put a building that you interact with inside like the Brewery, but there are lots of other level 3 buildings you hardly ever go inside. Scrap Everything:Well. SE is definately a very powerfull tool but like even a kitchen knive or any other 'dangerous' tool at home, you should be cautious and aware of the possible dangers. I personally use it every now and then but without the alteration of bUseCombinedObjects=0. Mine is still set to '1'.
Click to expand.I do, but bizarrely enough the playground stuff seems to be unselectable even in console mode. I can't get a refID out of them no matter where I seem to click, otherwise I would definitely just disable/mfd and move on with life.Obviously SE finds it somehow but I'm at a loss. I might just potentially sacrifice this save game to the Gods and see if temporarily changing the actual ini file for combined objects with SE still deactivated would let me do the console method and then put things back to normal.

The search on there is pure trash and even if you get the name of the mod 100% correct when you type it in, you won't see it show up.The best thing to do is make sure your XB1 profile is linked to a Bethesda account and find the mods you want through on a PC.Here's the link for the mod:Keep in mind, for this mod to work you have to place items down first, then you pick them up. When you're holding that item, hit X and you'll get the option to place it wherever when you release it with B.You have to use the consumable 'Place Anywhere' in the Aid section to mess with collision detection if you want to clip things through other things, or if you want to disable or enable object snapping.
